ABOUT ME
Hi, I’m Pinar. My job is all about people, and as much as I like being with people, I enjoy my own company.
I am currently the Human Resources Director for IBM Middle East and Africa, but my fervor for creating positive change at work and even in life in general started long ago.
I’ve always been interested in how people learn and retain new information, and my early work as an academician gave me the opportunity to practice adult development, educational psychology, and sociology. This knowledge served me well as I transitioned to Human Resources work, first working for DHL, and later at Management Center Turkey, Groupama Insurance and Pension, Zurich Insurance Group – and finally to my current position at IBM.
Throughout my career, I continuously searched for ways to develop myself. My formal trainings on coaching, leadership and all other topics, the projects I lead, the people I worked with, moments of impact, my ups, as well as my downs... I see them all as amazing opportunities to learn.
My own projects – writing, journaling, teaching, and learning – uplift me. I always find something that interests me apart from my corporate work and stay happy by pursuing that interest, as a hobby. Nowadays my interest is phonetics, for example. Learning the sounds of British accents. Exploring how the sound system of our native language impacts our English speaking.
